While out on a royal hunt King William II, known as William Rufus, was shot by an arrow. Its not known whether it was an accident or if he was murdered.
There’s a nice pub a quarter of a mile down the road named for the “damn fool who shot ‘em”, Sir Walter Tyrrell.

Fun fact: King William II was known as Rufus, the Red, for his ruddy complexion.
