Montserrat
28 miles outside of Barcelona sits the mountain of Montserrat. Nestled in the mountain is the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat. Inside the monastery is The Black Madonna, a religious carving from the 1100s.
Montserrat is an easy day trip from Barcelona’s Plaça Espanya station. The final part of the journey is a rack railway with stunning scenery.
