Guernsey

Channel Islands

I left from Portsmouth on the “slow” (7 hour) ferry. I had some time to walk around St Peter Port before the sun went down. The following day I walked the coastal path from St Peter Port to the Pea Stacks, stopping in Fermain Bay for refreshments. The views were phenomenal! People seemed to enjoy swimming in the ocean filled pools. I was able to get a closer look at Castle Cornet guarding St Peter Port before boarding the “fast” (3 hour) ferry for Poole.

I’d love to go back to explore more of Guernsey and the other Channel Islands by bicycle.

The name may sounds familiar from the novel and movie The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

Fun fact: Guernsey has some of the largest tidal movements in the world. High to low tide nearly doubles the size of the island.
