The Cutty Sark was a tea clipper from the late 1800s. Clippers were fast sailing ships. Cutty Sark could carry nearly 600,000 kg of tea from China to England in 109 days. She made eight tea voyages before becoming a general cargo and wool clipper. Tea clippers were phased out by steamships and the Suez Canal.
Cutty Sark may also sound familiar because its a brand of whisky.

Fun fact: Tea was popular in Portugal when King Charles II married Catherine of Braganza (1662). Although tea was first imported into Britain in the 1650s, it was Queen Catherine who made it fashionable.
